Images from Widows coming from all over India, but mostly West Bengal going into the Sri Bagwan Bhajan Ashram to pray in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, a way o get free food.
I stayed one week with them. They come to the Ashram because they don't have any family left or there families through them out. One of the way for them to live is to come to this Ashram founded by a rich philantropist. The only thing they have to do to get food and some roupes is to pray twice a day. The sessions can be very long, between 2 and 3 hours long.
Then they have to walk Vrindavan's streets to beg if they want to afford a room they will share in the city with other widows.

Nowhere else than in the old streets of my native Budapest do I have a greater fascination with shadows of objects under the reassuring rays of the sun, perhaps those of the past and of the present. These shadows are now sinister, now playful, but always quintessentially interwoven with time passed--old architecture, history, and the subconscious layers of memory.
