Hi Didier,
Welcome to Holik! This image is rather simular to this one from Hugh. I like these gritty streetscenes a lot and I think you've made the best out of this little corner of the world. The man is perfectly positioned within the frame. I think it would have been even better had he been walking towards you though...just a thought
Looking forward to your next uploads
All the best Steve |

Excellent pic to introduce yourself with Didier, welcome to ph!
This photo is a real throwback to what many would see as an earlier time, with the classic doorman uniform on a black man [he seems to be looking back nervously no less]. The truth is this is still the norm in much of North America: race is still a general indicator of class.
This is something that really freaked me out about las vegas too: the help are still mainly people of colour while patrons mainly white. As a PoC myself, and one who was asked a number of times if I worked in the casino, I am sensitive to this and it disturbs me...

Hola! And very welcom to Holik. A very nice start, with a great geometrical job,and a very fine composition. It has a classical touch and this picture could remind me the work of Edwoard Steichen. I wait for the rest of your projet.
Enjoy yourself in Holik!
Hasta la vista,
Javier

Welcome to PK, Didier, great to have you between us and looking forward for your point of view on your environment. You couldn't have started better. Excuse me for the dumb comparision, but I immediately had in mind a pair of John Lobb's shoes polished with Saphir cream (perhaps a reference only understood by french speaking fellows) following a particular technique called "glaçage" which consists in polishing with a bit of cream and a bit of water in circular movements. Pimps do it also but with lower class silicone cream - booh!. That is Art, if you ask me. A lesson on geometrics. I love it. Gal

A very warm welcome to Holik, Didier and a great start too! Pristine shot, all shiny, metalic surfaces - grand old New Yprk at its finest - levely use of graphic repetition here with the lone doorman in the corner pocket. Super.
Best wishes,
Francis |
